Who is in my team?
You will be working in teams of 2- 4 people for the webquest. You are to divide the workload between your team members and use your collaboration skills for the report. In teams, you will also be required to document a research journal. At the end of the webquest each team member will complete a peer assessment of each team member's contribution to the group.
What resources do I need to complete the WebQuest?
A list is available on the 'Resources' page. The Resources page includes links to Internet websites so you do not have to spend time trying to find websites to help you with your webquest.
How will I be assessed?
Although this webquest is a class activity, you will be assessed on your teamwork skills, researching skills and problem solving skills. This webquest will also help prepare you for your end of term assessment report on web accessibility.
What do I have to do?
Your team must include at least one of the following minority groups in its discussion and acknowledge their particular needs in your report.
With your choices of people in mind, your group is to research the following areas:
-
The current web accessibility options available for these people in Australia
-
The barriers and restrictions for these people in Australia
-
What facilities/services are currently in placed for these people? Are they government funded?
-
Ethical Internet issues these people are facing
Your report must provide recommendations for the City Council to help provide facilities for these people in the district area.
Since your report will be available to a wide variety of residents you must prepare a variety of media products, suitable to a range of audiences, that form part of your presentation for the report.
Remember Your Report is to Address this Question: Does the Internet provide an opportunity to address the social divides in Australia or does it contribute to the digital divide? Keep this in mind when collating your information for the report and providing recommendations!!
