Process

Please take the time to carefully read through the steps before beginning your WebQuest.  Ask your teacher if you need clarification on any of the steps.

Step 1.  Form into groups of four.  Within your group, allocate a character role to each member.  These roles include:

Hydrologist 1 will investigate alternative sources of water supply.

Hydrologist 2 will investigate alternative water solutions.

Hydrologist 3 will investigate creative ways for the reducing of water usage.

Hydrologist 4 will investigate alternative products used to help create a sustainable water supply for the future.

Step 2.  Each member of your group must research water sustainability from a different point of view.  Each member is a specialist in his/her field.

Step 3.  Brainstorm -  You will download a KWL graphic organiser to complete.  You will need to write down what you already Know about each role?  Then complete the section on what you Want to know about each suggestion.  You will not be able to finish the last column until after the WebQuest when you can write in what you have Learned about each suggestion.

Step 4.  Resources - Your group will use these  resources; internet and library to find out the importance of water in our lives.  You will need to take down notes of only the important pieces of information that will help you to deliver your presentation.

Step 5.  Make notes and record the information that you believe is important in designing your multimedia presentation to the Council.

Step 6.  You will need to be able to explain how important water is in our daily lives, ways we use water, and which suggestion for maintaining a reliable water supply for future sustainability you have decided on.  Use specific facts and statistics.  You must be able to identify and answer the following questions:

Identify all sources of water in our community

Identify all users of water

Identify all uses of water

Why must we respect and conserve this precious natural resource?

What is the best option if any for a new water supply?

How can this be done?

How expensive would this option be?

Why you have chosen this option? (Remember you need to keep in mind, affordability, suitability and environmentally friendly)

Identify access to water (When, How much, How long, To what quality water)

Step 7.  You are now ready to put your presentation together.  Remember it must go for ten minutes.  You need to convince the Council members that yours is the best option for the communities water woes.  You will have five minutes to answer questions from Council members.  Be creative and let your imagination run free.  Using DeBono's six thinking hats, evaluate your action plan (multimedia presentation).

Step 8.  Rehearse your presentation.  Practise makes perfect and the aim of the game is to sell your product.

Step 9.  Student Showcase.  You are now ready to showcase your multimedia presentation to Council.  Good Luck.

Step 10.  Peer Assessment Rubic.  Please fill this out with consideration for your fellow students.  Warm feedback only please.
