Activity 4 Prophets in Australia - in our History and today?

aus_question.gif (2891 bytes)

Stimulus questions to start you thinking…..

Are there Prophets today in Australia?

Do they have the same characteristics today as they did in the Bible?

How do we know they are prophets?

What are modern day prophets concerned about?

Are these issues the same as the ones in the Bible? How have they changed?

A. This is the last activity where you will take on these roles: Recorder, Presenter, Designer/Researcher and Group Leader.

B. In your groups, research the following people and decide if they are:

prophets,

heroes,

good people, or

leaders

by using the qualities of a Prophet from Activity 3.

Write up your findings on the sheet provided

Present the findings of your group to the class and be prepared to defend your reasoning as to why you put your various Australians into these categories.

As a class, reach a consensus about these Australians and their categories.

C. Individually think about your answers to the stimulus questions! Look at the following verses from Micah:

Focus Questions

Can you give an example of someone you have studied or know who lives out these words? Explain why you think this.
Do modern day prophets have to actively know God to carry out God's work?

Write a paragraph in response to each of the stimulus and focus questions and remember to cite examples from the work you have done already!

Hand these answers to your teacher for evaluating.

D. As a class, come to a consensus about which people are Prophets in Australia today and be prepared to give reasons for your choice.
