Activity 3: Know Your Prophets in the Hebrew Scriptures p1.gif (6735 bytes)

A. Each of you will have certain roles to play within the group: Recorder, Presenter, Designer/Researcher and Group Leader. You will swap roles in each of the activities so you will have a turn at presenting your group's ideas to the class. Decide on your role for this activity.

B. In your groups, for each Prophet, you are to:

bull.gif (555 bytes) Make a timeline of that prophet. State when he existed and under which ruler.
bull.gif (555 bytes) List your Prophet's characteristics - what was he like?
bull.gif (555 bytes) List his important messages.
bull.gif (555 bytes) Draw a cartoon of one of these messages.
bull.gif (555 bytes) Be prepared to announce one of your Prophet's messages in a creative way: a rap song, poster, banner, radio announcement, Power Point presentation or "interview" (you will have to make up the interview questions and responses)
bull.gif (555 bytes) Make up 5 questions about your Prophet (to be used to make up a board game). 
bull.gif (555 bytes) Make a presentation to the class on your Prophet which includes your cartoon, your Prophet's message and facts about him including his qualities.

C. Collect your portfolio for the group you have been allocated by your teacher:

construct a board game using the questions each group has made up about their prophet. It could be a game similar to Snakes and Ladders, Jeopardy, Trivial Pursuit or one that this larger group would wish to make.

Once you have completed the construction of your board game, swap with another group and "Play their Game"!

As you listen to each group's presentations, write up the Qualities of a Prophet on the sheet provided.

 

As a class, come to a consensus about these qualities and write them up on the class noticeboard.
