Beauticians apply facial treatments, waxing, manicure, pedicure, eyelash and brow tinting and make-up application.

Beauty spa

Beauticians may perform the following tasks:

  • give advice about skin and body care
  • perform facial massages
  • use a variety of treatments for individual skin conditions
  • remove facial and body hair by electrolysis or waxing
  • provide aromatherapy treatments
  • apply make-up
  • recommend skin care products
  • perform manicures, pedicures, nail extensions and eyelash and eyebrow tinting
  • perform reception duties, e.g. receive bookings and arrange appointments
  • maintain client records
  • sell cosmetic products and related beauty equipment

Beauticians need a good understanding of colours and tones in relation to skin types and hair colouring

Entry to this job usually requires completion of an accredited training course in beauty therapy. Training may be on or off the job. Entry to courses usually requires completion of Year 10 or higher.
