

Directors direct the overall or specific
workings of the production of films, television or stage shows. They decide when
productions are ready to be performed or filmed.
Directors may perform the following tasks:

study scripts to decide how to interpret the
story
plan and arrange for set designs, costumes,
sound effects and lighting
hold screen tests or auditions to cast
characters
plan, direct and coordinate filming or taping
instruct camera operators on the position and
angle of their shots
coordinate changes in lighting and sound
edit film or videotape and add sound track and
other effects
organise the activities of the studio/stage
crew, performers and technicians during rehearsals and productions.
To enter this occupation you need lots of experience in the film, television
or theatre industries. Although there are no specific educational
requirements, the completion of a formal course may help you gain employment
in this field. You may be required to attend an interview and submit a folio of work
