1. Look at this painting of Theobold Chartran "Laennec Listening with his Ear Against the Chest of a Patient at the Necker Hospital" held at National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland

"This painting depicts Rene Laennec, French physician and inventor of the stethoscope, in a hospital room, his ear pressed to the chest of a male patient, who is sitting up in his bed. In his left hand he holds an early model of the stethoscope. Three other figures appear to the back and right: one is likely another physician, another is a sister/nurse." (source)

2. Paint a modern day version of a hospital scene with the stethoscope as the centre piece and depicting any concerns about the technological advances in medicine.

3. Scan and submit this painting to "On the Job" for display.

Take a look at this video showing some young first-aiders giving CPR to a casualty (courtesy of St John). It is important to remember that approaches to CPR do change over time and it is important to keep updated.

Watch some episodes of the drama "Rescue". Does it show real Paramedicine well??? Talk this over with a friend
