Challenge 2: I vs 100

You are to become part of
a show similar to "Eddie McGuire's Show
1 vs 100"
because you have heard rumours that the cybernet intruders, F-900s, are playing the
Special Series game on Australia's Federation as part of the "Mob".
They want to learn everything
about Federation and thought this would be an easy way to do it.
The F-900s will be playing
- can you catch them out?
You are all to try to be
selected as the "1".
Selection Process
To become the "1", you have
to undergo a selection process.
Individually, you are to
choose two of the following (a, b, or, c):
- Write diary entries
over the course of one week from the viewpoint of either a Leading
person for Federation
from NSW; a Chinese Man from Melbourne; an Aboriginal Woman from
South Australia (who has the vote); or, a White Woman from Queensland
(who doesn't have the vote). You can decide whether you are FOR or
AGAINST Federation.
Answer the following
questions in the course of this diary:
- What were living conditions like in 1901? What did people: eat, do for work and
entertainment, wear?
- What
led certain people to want to have Federation? What were the conditions,
politics, the ideas and the people involved?
- What
are your views about the idea of Federation? What would you like to see
happen? What is best for you?
OR
-
Create a timeline of the important events leading up to Federation (from
1890 to 1901)
OR
-
Create a montage of images and famous or inspiration quotes from this
period from your perspective (White man; Chinese man; Aboriginal woman;
or White woman). Explain why, in the montage, these quotes are important
to your perspective.
Resources
Hand in your two pieces of
assessment to your teacher.
They will be on display in
your class for one day so you can vote on the best.
The person with the highest vote will become the "1"!

The Mob
Once the "1" has been decided, the rest of the class will become the "Mob".
Your group is to become a "Pod" - from the time of Federation or just before
Federation (1890 - 1901). Be creative!
You are to come up with a suitable name for your
"Pod". Each "Pod" will sit together as a "Pod" within the "Mob" and dress
appropriately.
Each "Pod" will be experts one perspective of Federation (the People;
Events; Women; Indigenous Peoples; or, other minorities).
Each "Pod" has already come up with questions for the show (10 questions each).
The Contest
Helps
"There are three helps
available to the '1':
- Trust the "Mob"
- The '1' must take the most popular answer given by the "Mob", even if
it's incorrect. Majority rules!
- Poll the "Mob" -
The '1' selects one of the three possible answers and asks for more
information on that specific choice: A, B or C. The Host will reveal
exactly how many of the eligible "Mob" members chose that answer.
- Ask the "Mob"
- Two "Mob" members are randomly selected after locking in their answers:
one correct and one incorrect. The '1' will not know which is which, but
can hear why each one answered the way they did. In practice, using this
help eliminates one wrong answer, leaving only two potential choices."
