Team 6: Personal Profile -
Mathew

Fit and healthy

Good friend, good son.

A good bunch of friends who tolerate my Dad’s ways.

No time really

Because I help out in the store I don’t have a lot of time to do
stuff for other people. It’s a good thing to do though.

As above.

Money?
|
You appreciate it when you don’t have it. Being the eldest
at least I don’t get hand-me-downs. |
|
Possessions?
|
It is nice to have things but if you don’t have a lot of
things that’s cool too. |
|
Religion?
|
Part of the traditional thing is religion. We are pretty
strict Church of England so I don’t think I’ll get any say in that
until I no longer live at home. |
|
Marriage?
|
Anything else wouldn’t be an option. Just for a joke, I once
told Dad I thought I was gay. He nearly died. Then he nearly
killed me. That is one I won’t repeat. |
|
Politics?
|
Not a great interest but I do know enough to have an
intelligent conversation. |
I think you should always treat others the way you’d like to be
treated.

In an ideal world what would be
your 5 year plan?
I really don’t know what I want to do, so I guess in an ideal world
I would know and be on the way to doing it.
What things are standing in the way of achieving this?
Getting clear in the head and coping with the pressure from Mum and
Dad.
What might be some of the solutions?
Getting good advice.
How will you support yourself if you decide on further training
after school?
I would apply for Youth Allowance. Mum and Dad don’t make a great
living from the store. We live behind it so we don’t have big
expenses. But it’s still tight financially.

Dad is pretty traditional. He inherited the store from his parents
so it is “his” business. Mum works for him but I don’t think she
gets much. They both want me to get a University Education. I think
that is because neither of them did.
What is important as far as values go?
