Team 4: Personal Profile - Paul

Fit, strong and capable.

I’m a good mixer, I am good with animals.

Nice bunch of guys I’ve been mates with since Year 7

Fairly involved.
I’m a house Captain in the Boarding school and School Captain overall.

We stay a bit isolated from the community at the boarding school. We might do some fund raising for special things but tend to stay within the college most of the time.

Not really possible at Boarding school.

Money? I haven’t really had to worry about it too much. I guess you would say we are well off. Mum and Dad always tell us we should value what we have.
Possessions? I have my own car, but that is really a necessity. It makes it easier for me to get home for weekends without Mum, Dad or Granddad having to drive a long distance to get me. Other than that I‘m pretty much like other kids.
Religion? We are Uniting Church and that’s a pretty big part of our life.
Marriage? Down the track maybe. I’m in no hurry. But it’s really important for a farmer to have a supportive partner.
Politics? I’m pretty conservative. Politics is important and you should show an interest.

I like people and get on with my group of friends. Being at Boarding school means that we are a pretty close group.

In an ideal world what would be your 5 year plan?
To be working on my Grandfather’s farm

What things are standing in the way of achieving this?
Granddad wants me to do Uni and get a more educated approach to farming. He reckons he won’t let me work with him unless I do that.

What might be some of the solutions?
Go to Uni and get the qualifications Granddad wants me to get.

How will you support yourself if you decide on further training after school?
Granddad says he will pay my living expenses. I’ll work during the holidays to get any extra I need.

We are close and Grandad is pretty important to us. He backed Mum and Dad when they wanted to buy the Pub even though he would have preferred Dad to work on the farm.

What is important as far as values go?
Family and the land.
