Team 2: Personal Profile -
Jordan

I am a pretty clean-cut guy, although my hair could do with a cut at
the moment. I don’t much go on the whole pretty boy look. I am just
a what you see is what you get kind of guy.

Friendly, creative, hard-working, personable, cautious. Enjoys
working and meeting people, is outgoing, friendly, likes to be busy.

I hang out with whoever I feel like hanging out with. I’m a
wanderer and hang out with anyone, whoever’s interesting at the
time. My band members are Kristine on vocals, Seb plays bass guitar,
Guy is on drums and Michael is our other electric guitarist and
vocalist.

I get involved in whatever I can,
as long as there’s no commitment outside of school hours. I like
keeping busy so I consider it another way of doing that.

We had a charity concert
last semester at school. It was heaps of fun and myself and the
band did a couple of numbers. I do anything to help raise money, I
will especially help when it comes to fund raising for the formal,
because they can be expensive.

I am part of my hockey club, and I guess my band ‘Last piece’ has
become somewhat of an organisation.

Money?
|
I touched briefly on money before. It is a good thing to
have, but I appreciate it more when it gets me things of
real personal value, and that are worthwhile. I don’t spend
it ever simply for the sake of spending it. My best
purchases have been my acoustic and electric guitar, my amp
and just recently bought a car. |
|
Possessions?
|
As with money, the possessions that I have are really
special to me. I do not fill up my life with clutter. I have
learnt not to do that because we move so often. I am by no
means materialistic. I could afford a nicer car, but I
prefer one that has character and goes more importantly. |
|
Religion?
|
I use to go to church with my parents when I was younger,
but I don’t see the point in it anymore. As soon as we
became comfortable within our parish we always had to move
away. It is too difficult adjusting all the time. |
|
Marriage?
|
I like the idea of being married one day. But not for ages.
I don’t have time for a girlfriend at the moment, and I’d
imagine that when I start working full-time it will be even
more difficult to do so. But I wouldn’t mind finding a girl
who is happy put up with my horrible hours. |
|
Politics?
|
I know who people are in politics, I don’t have to vote
yet so I haven’t taken a great interest. |
I love making friends, I think because I have gotten so good at
doing it. I try to be everyone’s friend, because I think it’s
important that we use the time that we have here to make as many
everlasting relationships as we can. I appreciate all types of
people, and I think that they appreciate me too.

In an ideal world what would be
your 5 year plan?
To have my qualifications as a chef. I like the idea of going
overseas and having a position as a head chef over there. The great
thing about hospitality is that it gives you the opportunity to
travel because the demand is so high. When I get back I am hoping to
lease out my own kitchen or start a catering business. I wouldn't
mind going on MasterChef to get some recognition.
What things are standing in the way of achieving this?
Not much is really standing in the way seeing as I am already on my
way to gaining my qualifications. I am afraid that mum and dad will
decide to move away again and that would mean that I would have to
work elsewhere. Also going overseas is expensive and apprentice chef
wages aren’t exactly the type that leave you room to save.
What might be some of the solutions?
I have made it clear to mum and dad that I refuse to move again
until I have finished my qualifications, and I think that they have
taken me seriously and know that I am not bluffing. I am also
working some weekends doing labouring for my friends dad, which
gives me cash in hand. This enables me to save more money on top of
cooking.
How will you support yourself if you decide on further training
after school?
I am working and gaining my qualifications at the same time, so I
have money for the little things that I may need. I am very careful
with my money and don’t spend it on things that I don’t need. I have
already got a good savings history.

My parents are pretty good people. We
get along really well and they allow me to do the things that I need
or want to do. We have moved around heaps and I am currently living
in my 16th house in 17 years. I haven’t minded up until now, seeing
as I am trying to get some stability in my life. My family are
really close, and my older sister is still living at home while my
brother Damien is a chef in Melbourne.
What is important as far as values go?
That you should always treat people
the way you want to be treated. I try to be as decent and honest as
possible, and respect women because my sister Jane and mum would
have it no other way. I believe that every meeting with someone is
an opportunity to form a great relationship.
