Team 1: Personal Profile -
Carlos

Tall, tanned, dark brown skin, brown
eyes, pretty good body (I hope) and that be about it.
No medical conditions that I can think about… I have gone to the
hospital a fair few times though from doing stupid stuff like
breaking bones and cutting myself in soccer and while fixing the
car.

Sporty, sociable, determined and
easily entertained.

I have heaps of mates
inside and outside of school.
At school I have a few mates who play in the same
soccer team as me, they are Adrian, Nick and Phillippe. My best mate
is probably Ricky, he quit school halfway through last year to take
on an electrician's apprenticeship. He is in Belconnen United but we
have been friends since we went to Primary School. It’s cool too,
because he has a sweet RX-7 which is a great car to pick up the
chicks. We always spend time on the weekend tinkering with our cars.
He is trying to get me to buy a Rotary too, but I can’t afford it.
It’s expensive enough to keep my Gemini on the road.
Adrian is probably going to do some kind of IT
next year because he is a whiz on the computer. Nick’s parents want
him to basically do the same thing as my parents want me to do, but
Nick would prefer to do landscaping. Phillippe…. I don’t think he
has any idea what he wants to do!

I captained our futsal and outdoor soccer team this year.
I went in the fashion parade and also helped the teachers organise
the lighting for the fashion parade.
Some lunchtimes I go in to the automotives section and help out the
auto teacher with some cars. It means that I can still play around
cars while maintaining the T package that my parents want me to do.

I don’t really do community service. I don’t think I ever have.
Although this year I went in the fashion parade, I guess that is a
service for all the ladies eyes.

I play soccer for Juventus, and that’s about the only organisation I
am a member of.

| Money?
|
I love
money when I have it, but hate it when I don’t. I like that
money can get me nice clothes, fix parts to my car and get
all the things in life that I always wanted. I am not very
good at saving, although I know I should start practising. |
|
Possessions?
|
Are very
important, you haven’t really achieved much in life if you
have no possessions to show for living at all.
|
| Religion?
|
My parents
grew up in religious families, but don’t enforce attending
services. Although they always lie to my grandparents and
say we attend.
|
|
Marriage?
|
Not something
I even think about at the moment, I can’t see myself
marrying and sticking with a girl for life. Although I don’t
think that either of my brothers ever thought about it, and
they both married before they were 25.
|
| Politics?
|
I have no
thought on politics, I’m sure they are very interesting to
some people, but yeah don’t care for them at all. |
I am a pretty social guy. I love going out
clubbing and think that I am a pretty nice bloke.
I like anyone who gives me respect and who gives me a chance to get
them to like me. I don’t really care though if someone dislikes me,
it’s their loss.

In an ideal world what would be
your 5 year plan?
In an ideal world I would be someone who could earn money without
having to do much at all. I would have a flash car and have nice
suits.
But realistically it would be to have a job which pays me really
well where I only have to work 9-5 and can wear a suit.
What things are standing in the way of achieving this?
I will probably need qualifications before anyone gives me a job
like this.
Also I am not yet sure what kind of job I could get like this. I
know that public servants at the higher levels get paid a fair bit,
but the majority have degrees.
What might be some of the solutions?
I guess to stay on track for a good ATAR and to investigate the type of course I could possibly do at
University.
I could also find out what it would take for me to get into the
Public Service and how long it would take for me to work my way up
the ranks.
How will you support yourself if you decide on further training
after school?
Mum and dad are happy for me to stay at home while I am studying at
University. I would pay through HECS for my fees.
Although, if I were to go straight into the Public Service, I would
be expected to contribute rent and not ask for money at all. My
parents have the theory that once you are working as an adult, you
are to contribute as one also.

My family originate from Chile. Dad
was born over there and was always good at mechanics, as are my
eldest brother Senti and I.
Dad is traditional in that he prefers that mum stay home, which I
think that she prefers as well. Hard work is expected in my
household and the family values time spent together.
Mum is always cooking for the family, and fusses over my 2 nieces
whenever they visit.
Dad hates me going out, but has accepted this since I turned 18. I
am never allowed girl friends over at my home, I think they only
want to meet the girl I intend on marrying.
What is important as far as values go?
I basically have the same values
as my parents. Family is important to me as far as values go and so
is making sure you are true to yourself.
