Team 1: Personal Profile - Brian

I don’t know, average height, stocky, dark brown hair. I have pretty severe asthma which is probably why I prefer playing golf. I am apparently ok looking but I don’t really know.

Level Headed, sporty, ambitious, honest and pretty quiet.

At school I basically have two friends who I consider close. They are Ahmed and Marco. Both of the guys are really good at soccer.

We don’t hang out much outside of school, although sometimes I might watch one of their matches or perhaps they will come for a round of golf.

Most of my friends are from Church group. We spend a fair bit of time together and grew up with each other in the Church, most of them want to go on to University as well. I think Marco is a little unrealistic about his future. He likes to think that he will get scouted to play for Arsenal. I think that Ahmed will probably continue helping his parents in their store.

At school I try to get involved as much as I can.

I played golf for the school as well as touch footy and cricket.

I help sell anything to raise money for charity.

Last year I helped do backstage for the musical just because one of my mates was doing it.

I always help to organise the charity golf days and any other golf events on at my local club.

I regularly help with things like the Red Cross door knock appeal and collect money at school selling badges etc for various charities.

I am a member of the Golf club.

I am also a member of the Catholic Church youth group and guidance group.

Money? Money is something which should be handled with care. It is the source of many of the world’s problems and should be managed carefully and efficiently. If not than money could control your life rather than you controlling your money.
Possessions? Are the result of hard work and good planning, they should reflect your own goals and how you want to be viewed by people.
Religion? Religion has always been a big part of my families and my own life. I am an extremely strict Christian and try to follow in the Lord’s example.
Marriage? Marriage is losing it’s importance as more people disregard what it is actually all about. I hope that the person I meet and wish to marry has the same outlook towards til death do us part that I do.
Politics? I am interested in politics, but not overly. If I need to vote I’ll make sure I know what policies I am voting for or against.

I think that I am a nice guy. Although I tend to be a little critical of people. Like I don’t understand people who blame others for their misfortunes and I think that people who drink and smoke are of weak character, that’s why I will never do anything like that.

In an ideal world what would be your 5 year plan?
To have finished my degree with flying colours and to immediately get a job with an accountancy practise, preferably somewhere other than Canberra.

What things are standing in the way of achieving this?
The only hurdle I really have to overcome is that I might not get the mark that is required to get me into the course. Also moving away from Canberra would prove to be extremely costly.

What might be some of the solutions?
The solution at the moment appears to be just to study hard and to research some fall-back options in case I do not get into University. Also to budget and save some money so that when I do complete my degree I have enough money to re-locate.

How will you support yourself if you decide on further training after school?
I would definitely be paying HECS (Higher Education Contribution System - you pay for an University Education in Australia). I have also got a casual job which will be willing to give me more shifts when I start University.

It is difficult in our family especially with Dad on the road all the time, so myself and my older brother really have to pull our weight in the house, especially seeing as mum works overtime. Mum is definitely the head of the household. My older brother Dean and I are so close to mum and dad as well when he comes home. Mum and Dad’s philosophy for us boys has been that you should make use of the talents that God has given us.

What is important as far as values go?

That you do not allow anyone to undermine your values.
