WORKSHOP - STORY BOOKS

YOUR PRODUCT

You are to create and develop an audio cassette Indigenous story book that students in Years 3 - 4 will want to listen to! It is to be a collection of 10 stories which will give students a better understanding of Aboriginal culture.

It is to be accompanied by the illustrated Story book or comic that students can read along to. It is hoped that the students will be helped in their reading, and, learn new words including Aboriginal words.

You are research and investigate get stories from elders in your community or write a story script for your own stories about living in your community. But remember... a Dreamtime story once written down becomes the property of the person writing the story and might mean this story is then lost to the community.

You are to add all the audio sound effects eg. music provided by a digeridoo, sounds of the environment, different voices and some use of a local Indigenous language eg. the Kamilaroi language (for students in Moree and Tamworth region).

YOUR TASK

Although you will be given responsibilities within your business (roles) each of you will have to contribute to making this business a success by getting your hands dirty!

This means that you have to research stories that have already been produced and make sure that the stories you are going to tell have not been told yet! They have to be completely new!

You have to write the scripts for the stories and illustrate the book or draw comics of the story.

You will have to learn to make sound effects, use a studio to record the audio of the stories, and have a clear voice reading the stories.

You are also to illustrate the Audio Tape cover and provide a content booklet for teachers.
