WORKSHOP - PROCESS

Product Selection

A. Read the following product descriptions carefully!

In your groups of four, decide which product you would like to produce:

A COLLECTION OF JIGSAWS

  • A collection of jigsaws puzzles. This is a collection of 4 – 5 jigsaws with an Indigenous Dreamtime theme. The jigsaws have to be for younger students (Preschool to Year 2) to help them understand some significant Dreamtime stories. Along with the jigsaws will be  Colouring-in Books in a Kit.

OR

A COLLECTION OF AUDIO STORY BOOKS

  • Audio Story Books. This audio story book is to be a collection of 10 stories. It is to be creative and for students in Years 3 - 4! You are to make up the stories - this will entail script writing or you might want to get stories from people in your community. You are to add all the audio sound effects eg. music provided by a digeridoo, different voices and some use of a local Indigenous language eg. the Kamilaroi language (for students in Moree and Tamworth region).

OR

SILK SCREEN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SHOPPING BAGS

  • Silk screen shopping bags. Right now when looking after the environment is so important, you are going to design a distinctive Australian shopping bag with Indigenous designs to stop people using plastic bags which all members of society would like to be seen shopping with! This shopping bag will be in direct competition to the "green" shopping bags now seen in major retail shops.

OR

DEVELOP AN INDIGENOUS GARDEN CENTRE AND CREATE A COOKBOOK

  • Indigenous Herbs and Bush Tucker plants and a Cookbook. This project means that you are going to investigate Indigenous Australian plants in your area (and beyond!). You will grow your own herbs and plants in the area provided. You will research the local Indigenous community recipes using these plants, experiment and create new recipes. You will then collate into a beautiful Australian Indigenous Cook Book.

OR

DEVELOP A MULTIMEDIA BUSINESS

  • A Multimedia Business - either video, photographic studio or audio studio. This business is to also assist the whole project by developing a video, photographic and audio record of the development of the above other business products. This is an essential product and one team has to undertake it.

Your job will be to learn how to use the video, digital camera and audio equipment to record what happens each week in the other groups. You will help the other groups as well - especially the group making the Audio story books, Jigsaws and the cookbook. You will edit the final product so the community can see what you all have been doing.

You will develop your own Multimedia Business in one of these media.

B. Each group MUST produce a different product!

HOW WILL YOU DECIDE WHICH PRODUCT WILL BE THE ONE FOR YOUR GROUP?

You will need to discuss amongst yourselves which business product you would most like to produce.

Each group has to reach consensus about this decision! Click here to know what to do to reach consensus.

Your group have to demonstrate that each of you have the best skills or interest or ideas to produce this product!

Rank the products in order of what you would like to do!

You will now think of a way of presenting your ideas to the whole group so that you can create your successful product.

This is a competition so you need to come up with some creative ideas and persuade the whole group! Click here for how to present a persuasive argument.

Remember everyone will vote on your Presentation!

C. NOW THE FUN BEGINS!

Each group is to give their presentations on their first choice and their second choice.

After each presentation, the other teams and your teacher will VOTE and the results of the vote will decide who creates which product!
